Christmas Fair 2019
Saturday, 7 th December 2019 @ 1.30pm
The time has arrived when the organisation of our Christmas Fair begins. For the benefit of those who are new to the schools, the Christmas Fair is a long established community event. It provides vital funds for the purchase, maintenance and upkeep of essential teaching aids, classroom equipment and other necessary educational items. It also provides many facilities/visiting experts for the children during the year. Without a successful Fair it would be impossible to provide the required resources to supplement the teaching/learning process.
We thank everyone who has contributed to the success of previous fairs and once again appeal for you to get involved in any way possible to ensure another successful event. Last year we raised €21,714 which was divided between the 2 schools.
Expenditure is set out below.
All those involved are volunteers, many of whom no longer have children attending either school but they enjoy the amazing atmosphere and camaraderie that comes with being involved with the event.
WE NEED YOU!
We need helpers on the day of the fair and the entire week prior to it. Every morning from Monday 2 nd December after drop off, volunteers get to work in the Boys’ school and help sort toys, books, and gifts. As the saying goes, many hands make light work.
Attached is a list of all the stalls requiring help and the days from which items can be dropped off.
If you are in a position to help, please tick the date beside the stall, include your name and telephone number and return to the school. Someone from the school will then be in touch with you to confirm the details. Due to a shortage of volunteers, confirmation of your time to help at the Fair may not be made until a couple of days beforehand. Please be patient with us!
Our annual Christmas family raffle will take place as usual. Each family will be issued with 1 book of tickets as soon as they are available. Tickets cost €2 or a book of 6 for €10. Please return all raffle tickets (even unsold) as soon as possible. The raffle takes place at the end of the fair in the Girls’ School. Additional books of tickets will be available from the school offices. Tickets will be on sale on the day of the fair.
Excellent quality non-shed Christmas trees will be on sale on the morning of the fair at very reasonable prices. The trees are supplied by Windyridge Nurseries. Trees are on sale from 10.30 am until 2 pm.
Santa has been in touch and has advised us that we will definitely be able to attend!
What do we need?
In order to help you we have compiled a suggested list of those items we WILL ACCEPT and those WE WILL NOT ACCEPT for inclusion in the Fair. Items donated should be clearly labelled with your child’s name and class teacher on it. It is essential we do not add to our refuse collection and incur unnecessary additional disposal costs. We much prefer to spend the money on resources for the children instead of skips! The skip last year cost almost €300.
