Sixth Class Musical 2024
Our 6th Classes staged The Lion King musical on June 19th and 20th. All of their hard work and effort paid off, and the resulting production was superb. We are very proud of our 6th Classes, their teachers, Mr. Gleeson and Ms.Condren and SNA, Fiona. It was a pleasure to see so much teamwork and talent on display.

Focus Ireland Fundraiser
As in previous years our Fifth Classes, together with their teachers and SNAs, organised a whole school picnic, to fundraise for Focus Ireland. All of the pupils in the school were tasked with doing chores at home, in order to earn a donation for the event. We are delighted that they managed to raise the huge sum of €1,800 for the charity.
Sports Days -June 2024
Our Junior and Senior Sports Days took place on June 5th and 6th respectively. All classes had a busy day and experienced a wide range of sports activities. These included dance, novelty races, rugby, GAA and gymnastics. As always, the bouncy castle was one of the main highlights.
Green Schools Flag for Travel 2024
We had a short ceremony on Wednesday, May 29th to raise our latest Green Schools flag. We were awarded a flag for 'Travel', thanks to the commitment and cooperation of all students in the school, led by Ms. Tríona Walsh and the students from our Green Schools Committee.
6th Class Charity Donation
The sixth class girls chose to donate €677 of their Confirmation money to the Laura Lynn Charity. We were proud to see them support such a deserving charity.
First Holy Communion 2024
The girls from Second Class celebrated their First Holy Communion on May 18th. The celebration was performed by Fr. Murney and Fr. John. Afterwards, the girls had a celebration in the school with their classmates and families. It was a lovely day and enjoyed by all.
Thanks to our hard-working Parents Association who organised the party in the school hall.
St. Patricks Day Celebrations 2024
Bhí alán sport agus spraoi againn í rith na seachtaine!
The week leading up to St. Patricks Day was a week of fun activities. Everyone embraced Seachtain na Gaeilge and it was a pleasure to hear so much Gaeilge being spoken by the children. We celebrated the overall Gaelgeoirí na Seachtaine during our Tionól on Thursday. All of the classes sang Irish songs. Our many Irish dancers from Junior Infants to Sixth Class performed during the Tionól.
There was also a whole school Irish Bingo competition, art activities and a themed classroom door competition which was won by First Class. Junior and Senior Infants even had their own parade together with the Boys' School.
World Book Day 2024
World Book Day took place on March 7th. Many of the children dressed up as their favourite character. Some of the girls from Room 9, Second Class are pictured here.
Grandparents' Day 2024
On January 24th, we were delighted to host our second Grandparents' Day as part of Catholic Schools Week. Approximately, 120 grandparents attended our celebration. After a get together for refreshments in the hall, they visited the children in their classrooms. The children had lots of questions for them and loved hearing about their experiences in school and when they were young. It was a lovely day for all as you can see from the photos below!
Arts Week - January 2024
Arts Week took place in January and the theme was 'Bring Some Colour into Your Life'!
A variety of events took place during the week including sessions with a Storyteller, Niall De Burca, music and drumming sessions and Zumba classes.
All of the children in the school drew a self-portrait. These were collated into a fabulous rainbow display.
We finished the week with an Assembly in which the classes performed a song related to the theme. It was a fun week for all.
Christmas Plays 2023
The Junior half of the school performed their Christmas plays during the last week of term, for both the pupils of the school and separately for their families.
Congratulations to all students and their teachers on their fabulous plays. The gorgeous singing and cute performances made for an emotional experience for all.

Movie Madness Fundraiser
Representatives of our two Sixth Classes were delighted to present a cheque for € 3,100 to our local VDP Society on December 21st. We are very proud of the pupils in our school who worked together to raise money for this worthy cause.
Santa arrived to distribute the treat bags for the Movie Madness event, helped by some elves!
Sixth Class Santa Dash
Both of our 6th Classes took part in a 'Santa Dash' on December 8th to fundraise for the expenses involved in running their Movie Madness event. This is a fundraising event for the Vincent DePaul Society to support local families at Christmas Time. All pupils in the school are involved in this and it culminates in a fun movie day on December 15.
Recycled Christmas Decoration Competition 2023
As with every year, we had some fabulous entries in our Recycled Decoration Competition. It was very difficult to choose a winner from each class.

Science Week Art Winners 2023
Each class level completed a project on a native Irish animal or bird, while Sixth Class did theirs on whales.

School Christmas Fair
Our annual Christmas Fair took place on December 2. It was opened with Santa's arrival, under Garda escort! As always, it was very well attended by pupils and their families and the wider local community. We appreciate your support for this important fundraiser for both Johnstown schools.
Diwali Celebration - November 2023
On November 9th, the whole school came together in a Junior and Senior assmbly, to learn about and celebrate Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights. A number of students from the school told us all about the traditions surrounding the celebration of Diwali. The assembly ended with a traditional dance, which all students enjoyed participating in. Marathon Kids
Our 5th and 6th classes participated in the Marathon Kids fitness initiative run by South Dublin County Council. They trained four times a week to prepare and ran their final run in Kilbogget Park on November 10th. They were supported by some very enthusiastic teachers as demonstrated by the photo!
Halloween Fun October 27, 2023.
Everyone got involved in our annual Halloween dress-up day. There were some amazing costumes. The Halloween Cake Sale took place on the same day, so it was an exciting fun-filled day. (See the Gallery page for more photos.)
Sponsored Walk September 2023
Our annual sponsored walk took place on September 29th. This event is a very important fundraiser for our school. All participants were in great spirits and we had a beautiful morning for our walk. Afterwards, we enjoyed a little picnic in Kilbogget Park. Thanks to all who supported our very successful fundraiser. The money raised will go directly towards purchasing IT and sports equipment for the school.
