31st May 2021
It is hard to believe that tomorrow starts the last month of another different and challenging year. I want to give a few reminders of events coming up over the next few weeks.
Standardised testing will take place over the next three days this week in literacy, numeracy, and spellings. This is a very important week for testing and we ask that all children are present in school for this testing. The girls have been informed today that testing will take place, but if you could reassure the girls that there is no pressure at all. We just want to see where everyone is at in their learning this year. You will remember that we conducted testing in October, so we are able to make a comparison with the learning for this unusual year. The teachers will be in touch during the month of June where there is a concern. Otherwise, the testing scores will be sent home via the school reports on June 16th and discussed in November at the Parent/Teacher Meetings.
We will celebrate a short Arts Week following the holiday weekend, with the highlight being a visit from the renowned Storyteller Niall de Búrca.
The following week (June 14th -18th) will be #Active School Week, #ASW21 where we have our Sports’ Days and we will complete work for our Active School Flag.
A lot of work has gone into this over the last two years and we are now at the final stage.
Life in Lockdown
Our school book of Life in #Lockdown will be published in the week of June 21st.
There will be a separate book for Infants to second, one for 3 rd and 4th and one for 5th /6th, whichever is relevant to your child.
Ice Cream Day/School Uniforms
Our Parents’ Association the #JPA will treat the girls to an ice-cream at school on June 21 st. The last day to wear school #uniforms will be Friday, June 25th. School holidays will begin on June 30th.
There will be no homework for the children once the testing is complete this week.
As per the school calendar school will be closed on Tuesday, June 8th
